Conneaut Lake park remains closed
Historic Conneaut Lake Park in Western Pennsylvania won't open this season because it doesn't have money.
The 115-year-old park is about $2.3 million in debt and prohibited from borrowing because it still owes money for start-up loans from three previous seasons.
Park officials had planned to sell more than three acres for US$1.7 million to a developer to build condominiums, but that idea was rejected by a county judge because the park is held in a public trust and land can't be simply sold to help pay debts. The judge, however, might choose to sell the park's assets to pay off creditors.
