Spinning coaster for Knott’s
A new spinning coaster from Mack Rides, combining the single axle of the German manufacturer’s Youngstar train with the spinning cars of its Euro Mir coaster, will be delivered to Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, California, for 2007.
Located at the entrance to the Camp Snoopy area, the Sierra Sidewinder comprises two trains, each with four 4-seater cars (2x2 back to back). These cars will not only take riders through a series of nose-dives, banks, dips and turns at a speed of 37 mph, but while doing so each continually rotates on its axis. Though this whirlwind lasts little over a minute, it covers 1,411ft of track, including a drop of 39ft. The coaster is only the second of its type in the world, with the first (Euro Mir) being at Europa-Park in Germany.
“Mack is an award-winning company known for its innovative attractions and family-oriented ride constructions,” remarks Knott’s Berry Farm general manager Marty Keithley. “Sierra Sidewinder will be an exciting addition to Knott’s and will give kids as well as adults a ride like they have never experienced before.”
