For a second year, Genoa hosted a gala evening for the amusement industry as the fourth Golden Pony Awards were presented during an enjoyable Friday night fixture for more than 230 attendees at the Technofolies trade show.
The awards, which began life at the now defunct Park Show in Rimini, are chosen by staff at the Padova-based publisher Facto Edizioni and recognise the efforts of FECs, amusement parks and travelling showmen from around the world.
This time 31 operators from 17 countries were awarded a Golden Pony (supposed to represent a ‘developing’ carousel horse) during a packed programme held at the pleasant Villa Margherita. As the winners were sponsored to attend, the event also ensured a number of foreign park executives were in town to patronise Technofolies.
Special awards were also made to a couple of ‘fathers’ of the Italian ride manufacturing industry: Romolo Fabbri and, representing the ‘3 Brothers that founded his family’s particular firm, Luigi Bertazzon.
