The German manufacturer Maurer Söhne is preparing a dual-track rollercoaster for a client in Abu Dhabi that will simulate an automobile race. There will be four separate LSM launch sections with two flywheel power storage units. The coaster will carry on-board music and cameras.
Funtown Splashtown USA, Saco, Maine, will introduce a Maurer Wild Mouse coaster for 2009.
At over 50ft tall and with 1,200ft of track, guests will have a much more exciting experience than on the Galaxi coaster the Mouse will replace. Rides-4-U arranged both the purchase of the Wild Mouse and the sale of the Galaxi.
Meanwhile more details are emerging about Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, scheduled to open in spring 2009 at Universal Studios Orlando. With a ride system from Maurer, the coaster will feature six near-miss moments and thrills including a record-breaking non-inverting loop, shown here.
The coaster will be 3,806ft long, tower 171ft above the midway, and dispatch up to 1,800 riders an hour. A fleet of seven two-car trains will be used on the ride, all of which will continue to move during loading. Once aboard, riders will reach speeds of 65 mph.
But there's more to the ride than just the ride system. Inspired by its earlier work on Hollywood Dream at Universal Studios Japan, the Universal creative team is combining audio and special effects.
