Moomins inspired theme park announces date for grand opening

Moomins, the fluffy creations of Finnish illustrator Tove Jansson, have proven to be as popular in Japan as in their native Scandinavia – with a planned Moomin Valley Park to open in March 2019 in the city of Hanno in the Saitama Prefecture.

Located around Lake Miyazawa, Moomin Valley Park will contain structures and buildings that appear in the original Moomin books, and resemble Moomin World theme park, a Finnish park which opened in 1993.

One of the park’s main attractions will be the Moomin’s house with five-stories to explore, a shop, themed restaurant, collection of Tove Jansson’s works, and interactive exhibit.
