Liseberg chooses NCC for new water park and hotel project

Leading Nordic construction and property development company NCC has been selected by Liseberg as partner for the Liseberg Jubilee project. The project includes a water park, a themed destination hotel and parking facilities. Liseberg will, through a fully owned development company, build the project, at an estimated investment of approximately SEK 2b.

In connection with Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary in 2021 and Liseberg’s 100th Anniversary in 2023, the Amusement Park has announced a year-round open indoor water park, and a themed family hotel directly adjacent to the existing amusement park – and NCC will build it!

“We are very pleased to have NCC as a partner in this project. It is Liseberg’s largest development project ever, and we have confidence that we in NCC has found the stable and professional partner, that can execute this exciting, but also complicated project, says Thomas Sjöstrand, CPO at Liseberg.

The project is a partnering arrangement between NCC and Liseberg. NCC will initially conduct infrastructure works, ground-level parking and a planned parking facility. Construction will then begin on a themed destination hotel of just over 30,000 square meters with more than 450 rooms. The final stage will be the construction of the water park, which will be 18,000 square meters with space for 2,800 visitors.

“Planning a project within a partnering structure offers an optimal working method for complex and major construction assignments, and enables a better final product. Our extensive experience of building swimming facilities and leisure centers, together with our water and environmental expertise in NCC Badhus, will be highly valuable when we now construct one of the Sweden’s largest water parks,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.

Project engineering work will start in May, and construction of the ground-level parking, which is scheduled to be completed ahead of the 2019 season, will begin shortly thereafter. The hotel and water park are expected to be completed between 2021 and 2023.
