Name selected for Dreamland’s newest ride

Over 2,900 entries were submitted in a competition to name Dreamland’s new addition, located in Margate, England. ‘Dreamcatcher’ was chosen by a panel of judges after being suggested by 111 people – one of which, randomly selected, was selected as the winner of the competition.

Rebecca Wood, the winner, will be one of the first to take a whirl on the ride at its opening on July 21 and 22.

A modern take on the classic Enterprise ride, Dreamcatcher is an open-air wheel that lifts riders to heights of 60ft at 25 mph, seating 24 people, two per gondola.

“We’ve had a great response to the ride naming competition which has really got people talking.” said Steve Gotkine, chief operating officer at Dreamland. “We were looking for something fun, thrilling, bold and original which captures the spirit of Dreamland and this really is a fitting choice.

“We’re delighted that so many people wanted to share in the naming process and be part of Dreamland’s new look for the summer with a host of new rides and a fun family festival feel every day at the park.”
