California Adventure gets ‘Walted’ The Walt Disney Company has unveiled a significant multi-year expansion for the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, including plans for a brand new land at Disney’s California Adventure. Disney Imagineers intend to increase the appeal of the resort’s second gate by exploiting the Walt Disney connection more strongly than ever before.

Staff changes at key parks and a new HQ Busch Entertainment Corporation (BEC), the family entertainment division of Anheuser-Busch Companies, is to move its corporate headquarters from St Louis, Missouri, to Central Florida, home to four of the company’s nine theme parks. The transition is scheduled for completion by July of next year 2008.

TORNADO

by Funtime Handels Funtime Handels debuted its latest extreme ride construction at the Prater in Vienna this summer. The new creation is called the Tornado and comprises an offset rotating arm, onto the end of which a four-seater gondola is suspended like a swing. Additional electronic motors allow the gondola to perform somersaults.

On the road again

I enjoyed four distinct adventures that confirmed the health of the amusement industry in North America.
